Why Kip Moore Says He May Hang It Up After Next Album

At some point, everyone has to hang it up. You can tell when artists are creatively spent and don't have much more to offer anymore. Sometimes, you just get too old to do all the stuff that comes with new music too. Long tours, all the time away from home, away from family. Oftentimes, the priorities just change after a while. You don't want to be one of those people that hold on for too long. You want to be able to walk out on your own terms. These are the things that Kip Moore is thinking about after releasing his latest album Solitary Tracks. Now, he's wondering how much he has left in the tank.

Recently, Moore spoke with Whiskey Riff to promote his new album. However, he takes a moment in the interview to ponder his next work and what he's striving for on it. Moreover, Kip envisions the album being such the truest statement he could create, where he might not have anything left to say. "I'm already working on the next one... it is the record I've always wanted to make. I'm making it right now. The record that I've always wanted to make," he emphasizes. "This one is just going to bleed through me. It might be it. It might be like, 'See y'all.'"

Moore adds that this doesn't necessarily discredit his previous work. However, he does feel like he's giving everything that he has in a way that differs from the rest of the pack. I've loved what I've done a lot of times, but that's what I've been striving for is to make something from start to finish that I know was everything that I had. I'm about 4 or 5 (songs) deep into this, and I feel that way right now. So when that happens, I just know me, what I've learned about myself," Kip says.

Being able to express what he's always wanted to express will allow him to feel a real contentment about his work where he feels comfortable calling it a career. It's never a matter about whether or not Moore loves the music or not anymore. Rather, it's just about finding a peace of mind, finally giving himself the grace to stop chasing the dragon. "It's not because I've lost a love for it. I'm on fire about music as much as I've ever been, but I don't want to drive myself into insanity. And I'm on the verge of that sometimes, I don't feel right up here sometimes," Kip candidly expresses. "I've learned about myself that at some point I'm gonna have to make that definitive thing of, 'I've got to stop chasing this.'"
