Like I said last week, if you want to make me aware of any new music feel free to email me! I want to listen to as much new music as possible when making these lists.
Our growing playlist has been fattened with these five new songs, so check that out too if you want to jam out to the latest in country.
Here we go.
1. Barstool
"Barstool" by Maddie Riccardo takes the top spot this week. It's a song about the challenges of dating in Nashville, thanks to lacklustre or unfaithful men. Her voice makes the tune endlessly replayable.
It's catchy, has clever lyrics (I'm a sucker for smart lines), and is sung by a very talented, yet very small artist. I've gushed about the song before, so I'll spare you the sickeningly saccharine praise.
I've had this song on repeat, and I'm sure you will, too.
2. Loved Me For A Little While
"Loved Me For A Little While" by Leslie Jordan is one of my favorite songs on her concept album The Agonist. An album inspired by the writings of her estranged and deceased grandfather, the album takes you on a poetic and incredible journey.
This tune is beautifully upbeat, and Leslie Jordan's soft vocals just hit the spot. The song is starkly inspired by the poetry of her grandfather, but she strings his writings into lyrics in a way only she could.
It marks the second time Leslie Jordan has appeared on these rankings. Although I do think "Elegy" is my favorite song overall.
3. It Ain't The Whiskey
"It Ain't The Whiskey" by Jake Worthington is a brilliant song that gets me every time, and has a funny music video to boot.
It's a song all about being intoxicated by the looks of a beautiful woman as opposed to the alcohol you've been drinking. It's something everyone out there can relate to, and it's encapsulated in a brilliant ditty to boot.
4. The Fly Boy & The Kid
I know it's sacreligious, but "The Fly Boy & The Kid" by Willie Nelson takes 4th place. I really enjoy this song, and it is my favorite track from his new album, Oh What A Beautiful World.
The song has some powerful lyrics and a serene and peaceful track to go along with them. I know you're probably thinking that Willie Nelson's new songs should be dominating this top 5, but I personally do enjoy the ones above a little more. honest.
If you somehow haven't already, check out Willie Nelson's new albums. Every song on there is beautiful.
5. Pretty Much
"Pretty Much" by Lukas Nelson is a beautiful song about falling in love. It's one I know I'll struggle to justify skipping when it comes on, no matter what mood I'm in.
It's also difficult not to sing along to it, too. As country a ditty as any other, Nelson's voice pours over the song like a warm hug. It's a brilliant song.
Best Album — Mason Via
With The Agonist by Leslie Jordan and Oh What A Beautiful World by Willie Nelson, deciding the best album this week was a near-impossible task. But Mason Via's self-titled album Mason Via just takes the biscuit.
Including heaters such as "There Goes Another One" and poetic heartfelt songs like "Melt In The Sun," Mason Via allows the singer to lend his unique twang to a variety of styles.
It's a great ride from start to finish, and I greatly recommend it.
Well, that's it for this week, folks. I'll see you next week! I remember your faces. So you better show.
