Luke Bryan Hilariously Vows To Stay Ahead Of Blake Shelton In The Hit Singles Race

Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton are the biggest frenemies in country right now, and they're both pretty good at it. The most recent installation of their love-hate relationship entails Luke Bryan vowing to never let Blake Shelton surpass him in no. 1 singles.

I may not be the biggest fan of Luke Bryan's music, but I must say, he is a pretty funny guy. He's at his best, though, when dunking on Blake Shelton. As much as he apparently dislikes the singer, Shelton sure is on his mind a lot.

Recently, Luke Bryan achieved his 31st no. 1 single with "Love You, Miss You, Mean It." He's admitted that having so many hits "freaks" him out when he thinks about it. Yet in a recent video discussing Blake Shelton's 30th no. 1 hit, "Texas," he gets all high and mighty about it.

Luke Bryan recently chatted with Cody Alan for CMT, and Blake Shelton's 20th no. 1 hit got brought up. Something Bryan was prepared for.

"It is my quest to stay one ahead," he boldly claimed. "I'm gonna do multiple singles to try to, maybe get 2 ahead. Get a commanding lead."

Their race for the top spot would either bless their fans with loads of great new music or flood their discography with subpar tunes (Not that their fans seem to care when they release subpar tunes, anyway).

"But I was really proud of Blake," he complimented, before switching it around. "I'm so happy he has now entered into my realm of stardom. Can't say that I want to share anything of that nature with him, but I guess he was able to achieve it."

The Cutest Couple In Country Can't Stop Bickering

For years now, Luke and Blake (Bluke? Lake?) have thrown shots and digs at each other. Their recent entries include Luke Bryan using an empty auditorium to make a joke and Blake Shelton mocking Bryan's filming skills.

Ultimately, though, who will reign on top in years to come? It's unlikely for either artist to retire, but when all's said and done, who will have the most hits?

Considering Blake Shelton's recent hit "Texas" is a banger... right now, I think he might take the top spot before too long.
