Luke Bryan's Bizarre Yet Hilarious Christmas Tradition

Fans are cracking up over up Luke Bryan's hilarious Christmas tradition. Although I have to say, after hearing the country music star's reasoning behind his tradition, it makes a lot of sense. So much so, that I may even consider giving it a try this holiday season with my family.

Luke Bryan's Hilarious Christmas Tradition

Christmas conversation starts around 2:12.

Luke Bryan and I share a certain opinion...Thanksgiving and Christmas are way too close together. It feels like right after you're finished cleaning up the mess (and walking off the calories) of your big Thanksgiving dinner, you are preparing to host yet another festive celebration. And let's not even discuss the price of turkeys or presents this year. It is madness! Luckily, the country music star decided to create a tradition that combats some of that extra craziness.

It seems like it almost started off as a joke, but now it has become a longstanding family tradition. One that he and his family now do every Christmas Eve. So, what is Luke Bryan's Christmas tradition? It's chili dogs! That's right, you read that correctly. There is no honey-glazed ham over at the Bryan family household, just good old-fashioned chili dogs.

On an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Luke Bryan explained how this Christmas tradition got started. The star admits that it was his mother and he who proposed the idea. After doing all of the cooking and preparing for Thanksgiving, the pair felt they wanted a more laid back option for Christmas.

A Bonding Experience

Luke Bryan's Christmas tradition extends far beyond an easier choice of protein. He explained to Fallon that the cooking of these chili dogs has now turned into an all day event. Mimicking his mother he states, "Luke it's 11 now, we've got to go do our chili dog shopping." The country music star continues, "This is her time to have with me."

I find it very sweet that he and his mother know what Christmas is all about. And no I don't mean the incredible chili. They enjoy spending time with one another and the bonding experience and joyous memories that come with a family tradition. That is not to say that his mother does not take the making of the chili dogs seriously. Make no mistake, these chili dogs are epic.

Luke explains that his mother spends all day on her famous chili recipe. They even use a specific type of bun and crackers to top it off. Additionally, one of the most important rules is that the entire hot dog must be submerged in chili. If you can see even a speck of that hot dog, you are doing it wrong.

I am obsessed with this wholesome family tradition, even with the consequences that Luke joked about the next day. We all know what happens when we eat too many beans...well he says the next day on Christmas morning no one is too thrilled about having had chili for dinner. Regardless of the potentially offensive odors that follow, I think this is a Christmas tradition worth trying.
