This is the type of story that everyone loves to read. Beloved CBS New York Meteorologist Lonnie Quinn is back in action as of May 5th! He had taken a relatively long hiatus from work after suffering a traumatic brain injury.

Coworkers Rejoice

Obviously, the whole team was ecstatic that Quinn had returned. Because, yes, they may just be coworkers, but come on, recovering from an injury like that is huge!

CBS Weather Correspondent Robert Marciano took to Instagram when he heard the news. In the post, he stated, "happy to share that Lonnie Quinn is back to work today @cbsnewyork and @cbseveningnews!!" He then added on a more personal note, "This man is a good friend, a gifted weather pro, and all around great human. It's been a fun privilege to fill-in for him the last few weeks as he heals and works thru concussion recovery. We are all so psyched to have him healthy and back in action!! ???."

And the "meteoric" stream of love did not go just one way. (See what I did there?) On the May 5th Broadcast, Quinn poured his love out to the team.

During the broadcast, he said, "Listen, I missed you guys more than you know. I mean, this is a business where we're kind of connected to what we do, and I'm certainly connected with you guys."

This weather team can't help but be wholesome. Because they continued the segment by providing video of Quinn's emotional return to the room.

The Injury

During that very same broadcast, Lonnie Quinn elaborated on how the whole head injury came to be.

Quinn stated that in March, he got hit on the head, which prompted the hospital visit. He would go on to elaborate that he actually wasn't able to see for fifteen minutes out of his left eye. The initial CT scan came back negative for a brain bleed, which was the initial concern. After the initial scans came back clear, he stated, "So I was free to go home. And I got on with my life, as we all do when we bang our heads, right?"

But it was not quite so simple. He would reveal, "I did the newscast. But that's when our news director, who really looks out for her people, said, 'OK, you're not driving home. We're gonna get you a car. You're going to the hospital.' "

You have to love a boss who genuinely looks out for her people at work. They're so far and few between these days, it feels like. The Meteorologist followed up with a neurologist at the hospital, who told him the severity of his injury was much worse than a concussion.

Just make sure you take care of your noggin, people!
