Country Singer Arrested Last Spring

The authorities arrested Wallen last spring after he threw a chair off of the roof of Chief's Bar in Nashville, Tennessee. The chair fell and hit the ground right near two police officers, leading to the arrest.

They charged Wallen with three counts of reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct, according to court documents. Wallen was later released on bail after paying the $15,250 bond.

It didn't take long for Wallen to make a post on X about his arrest to try and apologize. "I didn't feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks," he wrote. "I've touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief's. I'm not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility.

"I have the utmost respect for the officers working every day to keep us all safe. Regarding my tour, there will be no change," Wallen continued.

Now eight months later, Morgan Wallen pleaded guilty and will have to pay a $350 fine, on top of serving seven days in a DUI education center. After that, the country singer will have two years of probation, one year for each misdemeanor charge.

"Mr. Wallen has cooperated fully with authorities throughout these last eight months," his attorney said in a statement to PEOPLE, "directly communicating and apologizing to all involved. Mr. Wallen remains committed to making a positive impact through his music and foundation."

PEOPLE also received statements from sources who knew details about the chair incident, mainly mentioning Morga's alcohol issues. "Morgan is generally a nice, fun person to hang out with, but when he gets going he doesn't know when to stop.

"Morgan and alcohol is a problem and it's been a problem that keeps coming back around," the statement elaborated.

The country singer rose in fame after appearing in The Voice's sixth season, although the judges eliminated him during the playoffs. Then in 2015, he signed with Panacea Records to release his debut EP called Stand Alone.

It didn't take long for Wallen's music to rise in popularity. His song If I Know Me earned the number-one spot on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. Meanwhile, Wallen released his third album, One Thing at a Time, in 2023, and it stayed at the top spot of the Billboard 200 for 19 weeks.
