Green posted a photo of his new look on social media, captioning it by saying, "Never let em know your next move...."

Green says it's Ella Langley who convinced him to have a mustache, likely never imagining it would become a regular part of his appearance for so long. Langley asked Green to keep it for their "You Look Like You Love Me" duet.

"We gotta give Ella all the credit on this situation," Green says. "She wanted me to keep it for the music video, and that was about a year ago, so here we are."

The Real Story Behind Riley Green's Mustache

Turns out, Langley says she is the one who deserves the credit - or blame - for Green's facial hair.

"I will tell you, everyone's excited about Riley's mustache," Langley says (via 100. 7 The Tiger). "You can thank me for Riley's mustache, other than God, I guess, and his parents. The 'You Look Like You Love Me' music video, I co-directed that. I just knew I wanted it to be an old western. And one thing about my dad, he was watching old westerns or a war movies on Sundays after church.

"And so, I just grew up watching them, and I love them," she continues. "And it really does feel like, when I was listening to the song, I just thought of it in a bar, kind of how an old western is. I told Riley that he could not shave his mustache off at least for the music video. And so here we are, still a year later, he has it. It's great. I don't think he can get rid of 'stache, either. We're stuck this way."

Green's mustache might have helped "You Look Like You Love Me" win three ACM Awards. The two won the ACM Awards for Single of the Year, Music Event of the Year and Visual Media of the Year. "You Look Like You Love Me" is Green and Langley's second collaboration. They previously released "Don't Mind If I Do," the title track of Green's third studio album.
