Fans watch singing contest shows like American Idol and The Voice partly because you never know what is going to happen. That was the case when contestant Rob Cole really wowed the judges on Monday night, per Country Now. He performed "Joy of My Life," which was written by John Fogerty and covered by Chris Stapleton five years ago.

Cole, 34, was making a comeback of sorts. He was also on The Voice three seasons back, when not one judge turned around for him. This time, it was very different. Per the outlet, "Cole's cover leaned into that soulful, country/rock realm, and capturing the attention of two of the coaches."
Two Coaches Duked It Out Over Cole
Reba McEntire and Michael Buble went head-to-head for Rob Cole. Buble edged the "Fancy" singer out, however, by using his block against her. That made it impossible for Cole to be on Reba's team. Buble told McEntire, "I love you so much, Reba, the love I have. You know how much I love you? I love you so much that I blocked you. That's the respect and admiration I have."
Then he gushed about Cole. "When I heard your voice, I knew I could not allow Reba to be in the competition with me. What is your name and where are you from? You incredible man."
Buble was tickled to land Cole on his team, "I don't have to battle with anybody. We don't have to talk about any other things. I'm going to have to go and buy a bag of lemons so that I can suck on 'em to get this smile off my face."
Cole's Persistence Paid Off
Cole did not give up, even after things did not go well for him on his prior try on The Voice. He jung in there, always believing in himself and his talent. Per the outlet, he said philosophically. "It really calls me to go after it. No does not mean never. It's not the same thing." McEntire then chimed in, "I'm so glad you are in now."
Snoop Dogg Was Bowled Over, Too
Snoop enthusiastically said to Cole, "Big Rob..you already know I had a spot for you, but when I seen Reba got blocked, I have peripheral something that they don't have. But let me say this, man, when you went off into that sound like you was John Cougar Mellencamp, you started rolling and growling. I'm like, and I'm loving all of that right there, man.
He added, "So I'm happy that you on the show. And that you got a great coach like Mike who's going to challenge you and give you different things. Now you back. What a coach. What a bright future! Let's go, baby!"
