This might seem a little mean but: does anyone sincerely miss Roseanne Barr? I mean, it's been seven years since she's taken her leave from ABC and Disney. I don't know anyone who's been itching to see her come back. No one is going to buy a DVD box set of her shows. Clearly, I can't be that far off either if Barr is desperately trying to get attention through rap music videos. Regardless, it looks like she's trying to match the current moment with a new conservative-leaning TV show.

Recently, Variety reports Roseanne preparing to pitch her new show. They describe it as a blend of her previous sitcom and The Sopranos. Insane mix, I know. The protagonist is an Alabama farmer who sells weed and mushrooms part-time and is "saving the United States from drug gangs and China."
Roseanne Plotting Return to TV With Conservative Comedy Series
Roseanne gives her sales pitch, saying, "It's silly and out there," she says. "[It will contain] very offensive ideas and a lot of swearing. I live with my daughter, her husband, and their six children on a farm. And they have goats running through their house and stuff. It's based on my life as a farmer in Hawaii. They save America with guns, the Bible, petty crime and alcoholism. It's kind of like the Coen brothers thing."
In a strange way, I'm not that against the premise in a vacuum. However, I also don't really trust Roseanne or her comedy instincts at this point. If her selling point is controversy, it makes her sound like a hack. Regardless, she's insistent on the show and will make it on her own terms if no one in Hollywood wants to fund and distribute it.
"If Hollywood doesn't buy it, then I'm just gonna make it myself," Roseanne declares. "Does anybody in [Hollywood] like America or the people who watch TV? Because the people who watch TV would really like to see a show where working-class people win against the enemies of America."
