The Restaurant's Patriotic Overture Was Met With Both Flak and Kudos
People weighed in with their thoughts. Some were impressed, but not everyone.
One person wrote, "Please close all locations who don't allow this and list the cities by name."
Posted another, "Just put the fries in the bag bro"
This was someone's reaction. "You have no standards. Your locations are broken down & uncomfortable, your food is overly salty, your shakes are mediocre. America has no value or traditions worth remembering. It's time to raise standards, not re-label your lack of standards as being 'American.' Become greater."
Noted this poster, "This will sadly cause rage in the left."
Here is another opinion. "Awesome can't wait to add this to my view when I pass by my local one on Harlem Ave in Tinley Park, Illinois. Here's it is at sunset. The will be epic here"
The Chain Pushed Back at Cracker Barrel in August
You may recall that Cracker Barrel launched an unpopular campaign to modernize its restaurants a couple months ago. Their logo was shorn of the iconic man and barrel, leaving just a corporate-looking iteration that said "Cracker Barrel." The interiors of some of the locations was also updated. They were stripped of their homey atmosphere in favor of a bland, generic ambiance. Bottom line? Many customers were angry and disparaged the changes. compelling Cracker Barrel to reverse their strategy.
Steak 'n Shake had an answer for the Cracker Barrel fiasco. Per Fox Business, "'Heritage is what got Cracker Barrel this far, and now the CEO wants to just scrape it all away,'" Steak 'n Shake posted to X in August. 'At Steak 'n Shake, we take pride in our history, our families, and American values. All are welcome. We will never market ourselves away from our past in a cheap effort to gain the approval of trend seekers.'"
