I loved Friday Night Lights. It aired from 2006 to 2011. No matter what I was doing, I always stopped and eagerly watched that show. The acting was amazing, the stories were compelling, and the whole concept grabbed my imagination. You cared about these characters like they were real people.

There is a reboot in the works but it will not be a carbon copy of the original. And one beloved FNL star says he will not be back for the new edition of the Lone Star State TV drama about high school football. Taylor Kitsch said he's out.
Actor Taylor Kitsch Is Staying Away
Per Whiskey Riff, But one person in particular is adamant they won't be part of it, and that would be Taylor Kitsch, who played the beloved character Tim Riggins...." Riggins was a classic bad boy with a heart of gold. He was fascinating to watch. But Kitsch says he isn't budging. When he was interviewed by The Wrap, he was approached about coming back but bluntly nixed the idea.
Kitsch reportedly said, "Yes, I was asked to do it. Yeah, I'm not going back. No."
The Canadian star is now 44 years old. So it would stretch credibility plenty to have him play a high school kid or anything near it.
Many actors from the first go-round of the show are not coming back either. People like Jesse Plemons, Connie Britton, Kyle Chandler, and others don't plan to reprise their characters from the fictional town of Dillon. At least that is the current word about them.
The Storyline of the Reboot
Per the outlet via Entertainment Weekly, FNL 2.0 will take place after a hurricane. One uplifting thing following that disaster is the local high school football squad. Their quest for a coveted championship is the crux of the drama.
Actually, FNL has had many incarnations. First, a 1990 book. Also a film with Billy Bob Thornton. But the NBC series was exceptional. It will be interesting to see what the new version is like. Even if it is different than the original show, it still holds promise.
