The man of a thousand TV shows Taylor Sheridan has experienced a hiccup with one of his spinoffs. Back in June, reports came out that legendary actor Samuel L. Jackson would join some episodes of Tulsa King for its third season. Then, as they set his character in stone, they pivot to the land of Mardi Gras for a spinoff titled NOLA King. The third season starts this month, while plans for the spinoff would be for February next year exclusively on Paramount+.

Studio execs have already marveled at Taylor Sheridan and his ability to woo iconic actors and reel them in for a show. "The level of talent Sheridan is able to secure for TV is unprecedented," The Hollywood Reporter shares of one agency. All of this sounds great and all, another big hit on Sheridan's illustrious resume. However, there's a massive, unforeseen issue ahead: they just lost the person who would run the show.
Taylor Sheridan Loses Showrunner For Upcoming Tulsa King Spinoff
Recently, Variety reports that Dave Erickson would no longer work on NOLA King after it was initially said he would take lead. He's best known for his work on Fear The Walking Dead and Mayor of Kingstown, a TV MVP in his own right. Additionally, he took over duties to run Tulsa King for its new third season. However, the publication's sources reveal that a core scheduling conflict puts this all in jeopardy. Now, they're desperately looking for a new guy to run the show.
This is a pretty sizable issue for Sheridan and company. NOLA King is high priority for the company and streaming service but they still haven't formally given the project the green light either. Consequently, we could be at risk of losing the show entirely. I desperately want to see Samuel L. Jackson have his own TV show so I hope they grab someone good and worthwhile.
