The 5 Best New Country Songs Of This Week — Gather And Listen (July 3 Edition)

Alright partners, another week has passed us by. If you want to know about the best new country music released this past week, then look no further. This week has been excruciatingly difficult. I've had the latest releases on repeat all week, and still can't truly make up my mind.

Videos by Wide Open Country

Last week's list may have been a little rock and roll heavy, but this week we're taking it back.

Don't forget to check out our Spotify playlist to join the growing community of true country lovers.

Remember, this week's list was so hard to make that every song is of top spot quality. Hope you've got that beer handy.

1. Solid Country Gold

That's right, our Gold Chain Cowboy, Parker McCollum, has taken the #1 spot with "Solid Country Gold." This song embodies the genre in a way none other on this list has.

As skeptical as I am about songs by popular musicians, I couldn't remain pessimistic about this track in particular for too long. The Parker McCollum album itself is incredible, but this one stuck out to me.

2. Eden

"Eden" by Rob Williford comes in very close second. This sweet and sincere song is one of my favorites from the incredible Johnny & Jenny album.

I was torn between every new song from the album, especially "Dead Man Road," but for fairness (and to eliminate bias), I only went ahead and picked one song for the ranking. Besides, the album is the best of the week, anyway.

3. Dead Canary

"Dead Canary" by The Vandoliers is the best new country song from their album, Life Behind Bars. I keep finding myself singing the song in my head.

As much as I (really) love "Valencia," this song is a litting more meaningful and overtly country. This alt-country band has their style down to a T, and "Dead Canary" is one of the best examples of their infectious sound. (Alongside "Life Behind Bars," but that's already appeared on one of our lists).

4. Paper Cut

Want something a little more classical? Then check out "Paper Cut," by Verna Margaret. I have a feeling the old heads who check out this list will greatly appreciate this one. Honestly, I didn't think songs with this vibe were still being made today. But I'm so glad they are.

But I'm more glad that someone like Verna Margaret are on the vocals. Her vocals are effortlessly brilliant. I could listen to her all day.

5. Whiskey Burns

You may be surprised to see "Whiskey Burns" by Madison Olivia so low on the list given my track record (and last week's list). This country rocker is always a great time, and is benefitted by Olivia's great vocals.

Her voice has some pretty serious range, and it's on perfect display here.

Best Album — Johnny & Jenny

I have been looking forward to the release of Johnny & Jenny by Rob Williford for months now. What I believe is the most important project of this year comes with 14 stellar tracks and an incredible short film.

There is so much love and passion in this album. Each and every song is incredibly special. I've already rambled on about how good this album is, so I'll save you from my ramblings a second time.

I also wanted to shout out Life Behind Bars by The Vandoliers. It's a super solid alt-country album that's consistently interesting from start to finish. I usually only ever talk about one album in the weekly rankings, but just couldn't ignore this one.

Another list completed. The songs this week have been real good, it's been tough to only pick the best 5. If you want more, come back next week.
