Hank Williams Jr may be spry enough in his old age, but apparently his recognition has taken a hit. Despite Sara Evans opening for him one time, he mistook her for another celebrity.

Sara Evans remains a pretty big country star after burning brightly in the noughties. Her singles, such as "Suds In The Bucket," remain modern country classics, although apparently not everyone became familiar with the artist.
The country singer recently sat down with Sam Williams on her podcast, Diving In Deep. Sam Williams is the son of Hank Williams Jr, and while she had the singer's son captive, she informed him of his father's sins against her.
"I opened for him, and I'd just came offstage, went to his bus and I was starstruck, this was about 18 years ago," she began. "And we talked and he said, 'How's your mom?'"
"I was like, 'How's my mom? You don't know my mom.' My mom is from Missouri," she recalled her confusion. "So I just couldn't figure it out. And he goes, 'Yeah, how's your mom?' And I was like, 'Oh, she's fine, thank you.'
A pretty strange interaction to be sure. But it soon became clear who he'd mistaken her for.
Hank Williams Jr Mistook Sara Evans For... Ashley Judd?
Yup, as Sara Evans soon reveals, legend Hank Williams Jr thought Sara Evans, who opened for him, was actress Ashley Judd.
"He thought for a minute. And he thought that I was Ashley Judd," she revealed. "I was like, 'I literally just came off stage opening for you.'"
"But I gave him so much s--t. He thought it was hilarious," she went on. Thankfully, the misunderstanding was taken lightheartedly, and they had a laugh about it.
"Because Ashley Judd and I used to look alike when we were younger, and so he thought that I was Ashley, so he was asking about Naomi."
I suppose they did look somewhat alike, but considering Sara Evans opened for him, you can't help but wonder. Maybe he didn't have a say or didn't decide on his opening acts. Either way, it's pretty funny.
