"Of course, she can talk a little bad now and then," Parton admits to Knox News. "I told her, I said, 'Now, I don't cuss. I don't make fun of Jesus. I don't talk bad about God, and I don't say dirty words on camera, but known to if I get mad enough.'"
Parton loved working with Carpenter, as well as her other duet partners. The country music icon has recorded several songs with her goddaughter, Miley Cyrus, including "Wrecking Ball" for Parton's Rockstar album. She also joins Beyoncé for two songs on her Cowboy Carter record, both "Dolly P" and "Tyrant."
"She was so sweet. And Beyoncé's great, and Miley, you know I love her," Parton says. "So, I'm just having fun with all of it."
Dolly Parton's New Song, "If You Hadn't Been There"
Parton likes collaborating with other artists, but she also likes releasing music on her own. Parton just dropped a new song, "If You Hadn't Been There," released in honor of her late husband, Carl Dean, who passed away on March 3.
"I fell in love with Carl Dean when I was 18 years old," Parton explains. "We have spent 60 precious and meaningful years together. Like all great love stories, they never end. They live on in memory and song. He will always be the star of my life story, and I dedicate this song to him."
Dean had been sick for some time, although Parton chose to not reveal any details until after he passed away. The Country Music Hall of Fame member is grateful for her fans and their support as she grieves.
"This is a love note to family, friends, and fans," Parton writes. "Thank you for all the messages, cards, and flowers that you've sent to pay your respects for the loss of my beloved husband, Carl. I can't reach out personally to each of you, but just know it has meant the world to me. He is in God's arms now, and I am okay with that. I will always love you."
