Gretchen Wilson has been part of country music for a long, long time. Her freshman Here for the Party record came out in 2004, meaning Wilson has spent more than two decades as part of the genre. Still, she is still finding inspiration in other artists, especially Keith Urban.

The two, along with executive producer Blake Shelton, are part of the new TV show, The Road, airing on CBS this fall. Wilson is acting as the tour manager for the contestants, who are crossing the country serving as the opening act for Keith Urban, trying to win over his fans.
Wilson was already a fan of Urban, but became an even bigger fan after watching him take the stage night after night.
"Keith performed at every one of these shows," Wilson tells Taste of Country. "Just aces. This guy is just — he's got it together. All I could think every time I was watching him on stage was, 'I wanna be Keith when I grow up.'"
How Gretchen Wilson Got On 'The Road'
Wilson might have a new appreciation for Urban after filming The Road with him. But she has another artist to thank for her even being on the show. The "Redneck Woman" singer says it was Shelton who hand-picked her for the new role.
"Blake said if you want somebody who isn't going to take any crap, who's going to tell it like it is, and who also has the heart to deal with these people and their emotions, it's Gretchen Wilson that you want to the get," Wilson reveals.
The Road isn't Wilson's only reality TV talent show she is joining. She was recently crowned the Season 13 winner of FOX's The Masked Singer.
"I decided to try my hand at The Masked Singer because I wanted to see just how far I would be able to take myself," Wilson
