Every band has its thing, and for the Nashville-based band, Arts Fishing Club, that thing is grilling onstage. Just this week, the group took the stage at the Boogieman Festival in South Carolina, looking incredibly midwestern, dressed in dad attire. The outfits they chose to sport, cargo shorts and collared shirts, were already a sight to see, but it was the grill onstage that caught most audience members' attention.

While the indie folk band jams out onstage, the "grill master" cooks hot dogs for the crowd and tosses them their lunch for the day, wrapped in tin foil and served hot and fresh. Videos online have been surfacing of the group, and people can't get enough of their music, but the hot dogs really seem to be the thing people are getting a kick out of. The comments on some of these videos are hysterical.
"oh ur in a band, that's cool what do you play? him: the grill"
"Finally an instrument I can play"
"definition of "let him cook" ???"
"This screams "Midwestern" band, I don't even have to google where they're from"
Even though you might have been able to guess, this band was formed in Nashville, while its lead singer, Christopher Kessenich, is originally from Appleton, Wisconsin.
Arts Fishing Club Reveals the Inspiration Behind Their Debut Album
Even though this indie-folk band is just now gaining notoriety for their made grilling skills and interesting approach to entertaining a crowd, Arts Fishing Club actually released their debut album in 2023. In fact, the group has been making music since 2015, when they first started putting out singles and EPs. Lightning 100 in Nashville interviewed the band, and it seems like they haven't changed a bit since then.
The band talked a lot about where their inspirations come from as a group, which, for the lead singer, Christopher, is Mark Rothko, an American painter. The title of their debut album is Rothko Sky, which Kessenich shared is actually a nod to an ex of his that loved the painter. "Unfortunately, you know, breakups and things, it's like that, wishing well in a sort of way," he shared. "Like I hope you find essentially your absolute bliss." He then said of the artist, "And his paintings are unbelievable, they're very surreal."
Fans can find Arts Fishing Club's most recent release, an EP titled Supernatural Groove, on all streaming services now. Check out this single from their EP below.
