As with any journey through the talent show mill, Sofronio Vasquez has had his life exposed to the hungry viewers. His history, family, dreams, and desires have all been laid bare. However, there are a few facts you may not know about the new champion of The Voice, Sofronio Vasquez.
'The Voice' Isn't Vasquez First Time In The Limelight
Winning The Voice is, of course, the highlight of his career so far. However, it isn't his first time trying for fame and fortune. He had previously competed in Tawag ng Tanghalan, on ABS-CBN. Here he garnered quite the following.
Despite winning The Voice, Vasquez only made it to the semi-finals of the Philippine show. Third place was all he took. However, he took this experience and used it to push himself to victory in Season 26. He came to the US show with determination and the drive to do better in front of an international audience.
Say Ahhhhh
Music and singing weren't the first choice of careers for the Season 26 winner. Before he embarked on his journey with The Voice, Vasquez was a trained and practicing dental assistant. It was only after his father passed away that he decided to give singing another chance.
It was his father's coaching, and belief, that pushed him to pursue his dream of being a singing star. I am sure his father would be proud.
Original Artist
Throughout The Voice, all we have really seen of Vasquez is his covers. However, a little digging reveals that he also has a number of original tracks out there. Both Bakit Di Ko Sinabi, and Bililhon have been released by the artist.
If you're looking to find out a bit more about where Vasquez came from, give them a listen. The production quality is a world away from what he will be producing now with his huge win. The $100,000 prize money and Universal record deal are going to change his life. Big things are coming.
