Country Music Hall of Fame Inducts Three Legendary Icons of the Genre

A trio of truly remarkable icons was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday, October 19. They are the late June Carter Cash, Kenny Chesney, and Tony Brown. per Country Now. These three new illustrious inductees are "the 156th, 157th, and 158th members of the Country Music Hall of Fame, country music's highest distinction," per the outlet. The Medallion Ceremony was held in Music City at the CMA Theater.

Brown Has Been an Exceptional Country Music Producer

Brown has produced the work of a galaxy of storied country singers. Among them are Lyle Lovett, Reba McEntire, George Strait, Vince Gill, and many others, per Billboard. He and Strait jointly produced an astonishing 20 LPs. The "Blue Clear Sky" singer said of Brown in part, "Tony, you are the man. I appreciate all the records we were able to make together. I had so much fun with you in the studio... you are an amazing producer, Tony, and a friend and I just remember all the fun we had. The martini listening parties were outrageous. I'm honored to be here to do this tonight."

Trisha Yearwood, Lyle Lovett, and Steve Earle gave impressive performances in Brown's honor, as did Strait.

Brown himself said in part, "I've had some big things happen in my life, and this is by far the biggest. For years, my career was defined by playing with Elvis Presley, but my career is [now] defined by being inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame."

Vince Gill did the induction honors for Tony Brown.

Chesney Has Many Prestigious Awards to His Credit

His numerous accolades include awards from the CMA, Billboard, the ACM, the People's Choice Award, and the BMI President's Award. This Hall of Fame honor, however, has to rank very high indeed among Chesney's cherished professional tributes. Among the artists who celebrated his induction with songs were Eric Church, Kelsea Ballerini, and Megan Moroney, per Country Now.

Hall of Famer Joe Galante gave Chesney his Medallion. The singer gave a moving speech in which he said this in part. "The truth is, I've never really let myself sit in accomplishment very much. I've always been very creative, very driven. But tonight, I can tell you, walking into that rotunda and taking the group shot with a lot of my heroes and a lot of my friends, it was the first time that I have ever felt accomplished in my life."

Cash Earned Five Grammy Awards

June Carter Cash, passed away in 2003 at the age of 73. Cash landed five Grammys, and she also co-penned a famous and enduring country music classic, "Ring of Fire."

According to Billboard, there are three members of the Carter family already enshrined in the Hall of Fame, plus her late husband, Johnny Cash. Per the outlet, "Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Chief Executive Officer Kyle Young called it 'the most complete family reunion in the Hall of Fame's history.'"

Outstanding performances by Lukas Nelson, Daniel Tashian and Kacey Musgraves, and Ruby Amanfu and Keb' Mo' paid reverent tribute to Cash. John Carter Cash and Carlene Carter, Cash's children, gratefully accepted the honor for her.

Emmylou Harris Delivered a Speech Warmly Praising Cash

In her presentation speech, Emmylou Harris graciously said this of Cash in part. "June was a friend to everyone she met, as if she'd known them all her life... June thrived on the laughter of an audience, but she was one of them and never put herself above her fans... We prefer sometimes to think of ourselves as artists.. .but June was proud to be an entertainer."
