Right now, Yearwood is making rounds with her Christmastime Tour, which follows the release of her new Christmas project. One of the songs on the album, "Merry Christmas, Valentine," was actually co-written by both Brooks and Yearwood.

In a video talking about her experience writing it, Yearwood got vulnerable about the song's meaning. "It's really a love song that talks about how one holiday is not big enough for a love that's this big... I wasn't planning to put a song I co-wrote on the record, but it just worked. It sounds like it could have been written in another time, so to me, it really works."

Since Trisha herself seems to be such a fan of the song, it should have come as no surprise when Garth appeared onstage to sing it with her. Closing out the show, the couple held hands and sang the song to each other, much to their fans' delight.

Yearwood Talks About Her Experience Being a Co-Writer on "The Mirror"

In addition to promoting her new album and preparing for her The Mirror tour in 2026, Yearwood has been opening up about her journey as a songwriter, much of which inspired The Mirror. In an interview with Jenna & Friends, she talked about how an experience in college convinced her she wasn't a songwriter. With her new album, she ended up changing that narrative.

"Somebody had told me in college that I was not a songwriter," she explained, "And I just let it be the truth for 40 years. And I just thought, that doesn't have to be the truth about me just because somebody says so. I started writing for me, I didn't ever intend to make a record. And then the more I wrote, the more confidence I got."

Fans of Yearwood and of Brooks can hear her songwriting in her new record, The Mirror, which is available on streaming platforms everywhere.
