I'm all for a good deal. Trust me, my girlfriend hates me for it. But sometimes there's a reason that food items are priced a little lower. Like, I'm not sure if you've ever roamed around the knockoff snack aisle, but good lord. Even with the price dip, the flavor dip can make the deal not worth it. Now, I have never been to Costco. But only because there isn't one nearby. But, according to reviews, when it comes to one of their whiskey, I'm not missing much.

A Whiskey Miss-key?
(Please, someone help me, I don't know how to do word play.) So, again, not a Costco enjoyer. It's sad, but somehow I make it through. Maybe one day I'll be so lucky.
According to some reviews on Reddit, though, I'm not missing much when it comes to the Kirkland Signature Irish Whiskey.
I should probably rewind for a hot second, though. So, the Kirkland Signature is the in-house brand for Costco. They make a wide range of different whiskeys that are actually pretty tasty. (Or so I've been told.) Again, I haven't really tried any. The Signature Irish Whisky is the only whiskey that whiskey fans seem to not enjoy.
It sells for around $30 per 1.75-liter bottle, which normally would be an absolute steal. However, this is what fans have said about the flavor on Reddit. One consumer compared it to Jameson and declared Jameson the superior of the two. They wrote, "Kirkland starts off sweet-ish. That lasts a very short amount of time."
Yeah, not exactly glowing reviews for a whiskey. I wish I could say it gets better, but it doesn't. A different reviewer wrote, "nothing glaringly offensive about it, except that literally everything could be better." Yeouch.
Is It All Bad?
The short answer is not, absolutely not. Costco has plenty of very tasty whiskeys for a very affordable price. Kirkland Signature Blended Canadian Whisky is actually rumored to be produced by Crown Royal. And instead of paying $50 consumers get to spend $20 for a 1.75-liter bottle.
Now that is some serious value. One reviewer on Reddit even said, "I prefer Costco's version to Crown. Might be partially due to the cost, but it tastes great."
And there are plenty more where that came from. While Costco can sometimes sacrifice flavor with their alcohols, they don't always. And man if I'm not a sucker for a great cheap whiskey.
