Willis Sia, 42, was practicing a WaterWorld stunt at Universal Studios Singapore on May 19 when he suffered a medical emergency.

Universal Studios Singapore is located within Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), a buzzing tourist attraction.

In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, an RWS spokesperson said, "A performer engaged by an appointed vendor for WaterWorld experienced a medical emergency during a training session."

Sia, who was known for cosplaying as Darth Vader in addition to his WaterWorld duties, was transported to a local hospital by ambulance. Unfortunately, his medical emergency proved fatal.

"We are deeply saddened by the passing of a WaterWorld performer. And send our condolences to the family, our show vendor and his fellow performers during this very difficult time," RWS' Vice President of Attractions and Destination Experience Lena Lee said.

Police do not suspect foul play and continue to investigate the incident, per Channel News Asia and The Straits Times.

Condolences Pour in For Willis Sia

Tributes from the Star Wars and cosplay community have begun pouring in on social media.

According to his Instagram account, Sia played three characters in WaterWorld, including the show's antagonist, Deacon.

"You were a gentle giant with an even bigger heart," wrote one friend on Facebook. "Your Empire will never be the same."

A separate tribute read: "You may act as Darth Vader and Deacon, the baddest guys in their world, but you are the nicest person that ever walked on earth."

The 501st Legion Singapore Garrison, the local chapter of a Star Wars cosplay organization, shared a heartfelt tribute to Sia on its

Facebook page.

"Some people leave footprints quietly, but deeply, within a community. Willis was one of them," the group wrote. "Though the armour may now rest, your memory will continue to march alongside us in every troop and every gathering to come."
