'Walking Dead' Actor Joins Cast of Forthcoming Beatles Biopics

Too young to remember the feverish frenzy of Beatlemania in the 1960s? Or the Fab Four who caused it? Acclaimed director Sam Mendes may have the answer for you. Perhaps you do recall the seismic impact that this unique foursome had on pop culture. You might want to revisit those long-ago memories.

In 2028, Mendes' eagerly-awaited quartet of films about the mop-top chums from Liverpool who changed the complexion of rock music forever will be released. Titled The Beatles - A Four-Film Cinematic Event, it promises to be of interest to Beatles fans and those who are newcomers to their oeuvre.

American Songwriter called the endeavor "wildly ambitious." The outlet added that "Each member of the Fab Four will get their own individual film" in Mendes' epic.

Per Billboard, set to play the Beatles are actors Harris Dickinson as John, Joseph Quinn as George, Barry Keoghan as Ringo, and Paul Mescal as Paul.

A Familiar Face From TV Is a Member of the Cast

Right now, however, roles are still being cast. The actors portraying those personally and professionally closest to John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison are being announced. One notable performer from television who will be in Mendes' Beatles chronicle is The Walking Dead's David Morrissey. He was tapped to portray Jim McCartney, Paul McCartney's dad.

Some Other Cast Members

Many of the people who were instrumental in the Beatles' lives and success will be portrayed in these films. Some of the actors playing them, per the outlet, are Daniel Hoffman-Gill as Mal Evans, personal assistant / road manager; Harry Lloyd as George Martin, their producer; and James Norton as the band's brilliant manager, Brian Epstein.

One Actress Has a Personal Beatles Connection

Pete Best was the band's drummer in the very early days of the group. Now 84, he was with them from 1960 to 1962. He was let go and eventually replaced by Ringo Starr. Best is often referred to as "a fifth Beatle." His niece, Leanne Best, is slated to be Mimi Smith, Lennon's aunt, in Mendes' project.

Per Billboard, Smith was Lennon's childhood guardian. Best's other acting credits include Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Line of Duty.
