Want An Unique Stay? Rent A Small Plane That's Been Converted To An AirBnB!

I have definitely done a fair bit of traveling in my day. It's something I've always made a priority whenever I can. I'm not saying I'm a kazillionaire who has a private jet and flies all over the world. I can only dream. But I do enjoy myself a good day of travel. (Usually by car.)

One Of The Most Interesting Places To Stay!

This is not an advertisement, let's get that clear. (Although if you wanna pay me, you know where to find me.) But I definitely love a funny Airbnb. Usually, I don't go as crazy as a refurbished old plane, but I can definitely get behind the idea.

Sadly, this Airbnb is all the way over in the United Kingdom, so not exactly a day trip for those of us who are in the States, but the story and setup are still really cool.

Tami Ali purchased and refurbished a 1970s Hawker jet in December 2023. Yes, you absolutely read that correctly. A 38-year-old man invested in a decrepit plane and transformed it into a place for people to stay if they so desire. Honestly, a really cool concept.

"I've always worked with eccentric people — people who deal with the weird and wonderful," Ali told SWNS. He then added that "I know a chap in Essex, who said he had something that was up my street."

A Fully Refurbished Plane

Turns out what was up the street was a 1970s Hawker jet. It had once been used but was now no longer flyable. Ali, who works on and fixes cars for a living, saw treasure while others saw junk. He could see the vision for a new money-making project and set out to work.

But this was absolutely a passion project. Ali reported that the front nose of the plane was hanging off, and there was no door. Additionally, there was a ton of mold and moss covering the inside.

So Ali got to work. He spent the better part of seven months and $120,000 on this plane. But he was able to turn it into a nice Airbnb property to rent out. It was listed only three weeks ago, but it is already a big hit.
