Yet again, the Avett Brothers take the stage to cover "As Good As I Once Was" by the late legendary Toby Keith. It seems to be a favorite of theirs, and honestly, they perform it so well I'm not surprised.

"As Good As I Once Was" is a classic from the Big Dog Daddy, and the Avett Brothers, despite being a rock duo, ace the song.
They performed at Austin City Limits for the 50th anniversary. Although this is to air on January 18, the YouTube channel decided to release their cover of the song a little early. And I'm grateful that they did.
The Avett Brothers have a history with this song. They played the cover twice last year, at Red Rocks and at the "Concert For Carolina." I suppose they just enjoy singing it so much. Their pleasure certainly shines through as they sing. I swear they get better each and every time they play the song.
It's pretty funny that they keep playing the song, considering what the song is about. I wonder if they'll keep performing the song as they really begin to age, where the song will become much more fitting. Especially if they keep performing at this quality.
You can watch the Avett Brothers' latest cover of "As Good As I Once Was" below. Or save it for January 18, your call.
Internet Reacts To Avett Brothers Cover Of Toby Keith Classic
Naturally, the comments contain only positivity, because why wouldn't they? Those who especially enjoyed the cover shared their thoughts.
"The best!!!!" exclaims one.
"Damn good cover Avett boys," another earnestly says, and I agree.
"The real deal," compliments one more. I'm sure Toby Keith would be damn proud if he could listen to them live.
Hearing a good cover always makes you want to go back and listen to the original, doesn't it? Although Toby Keith was recently awarded a bunch of platinum and gold awards for his tracks and albums, I'm sure we'll see a special hike in the number of listens for one song in particular.
