Jelly Roll And Morgan Wallen Continue Dominance Over Industry With CMA's Triple Play Awards Nominations

Jelly Roll and Morgan Wallen are continuing their country music dominance. The two superstars are both among the recipients for this year's CMA Triple Play Awards. The award is given to songwriters who are celebrating three No. 1 hits in a 12-month period.

Jelly Roll's three self-penned hits are all his own: "Halfway To Hell," "I Am Not Okay" and "Liar." Wallen's are "Mamaw's House," his collaboration with Thomas Rhett, "I Had Some Help," his collaboration with Morgan Wallen, and "Love Somebody."

Other recipients of this year's Triple Play Awards include Ashley Gorley, ERNEST, Josh Thompson and more. Jelly Roll and Wallen will be honored at a ceremony held in Nashville on April 29.

"Songwriters are the heartbeat of Country Music, and the CMA Triple Play Awards allow us to recognize the incredible talent and dedication it takes to write not just one, but three No. 1 songs in a year," says Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer. "We're also proud to celebrate those reaching their first No. 1—a milestone that marks the beginning of many great stories. We look forward to uniting our songwriting community later this month to honor these achievements and the creative contributions that continue to shape the genre."

Jelly Roll and Morgan Wallen's Friendship

Jelly Roll and Morgan Wallen might seem to compete for chart space and trophies. But in real life, the two singers are close friends, and each other's biggest cheerleaders. In fact, both have nominations for the ACM Award for Entertainer of the Year. And it's Wallen who Jelly Roll says deserves to be the winner.

"I don't think I deserve to be in the category,"Jelly Roll said last year (via American Songwriter), adding that he felt he was a bit early. "I appreciate the nod, and it means a lot that I got it, and I am truly honored. But I mean, when you look at guys like Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs, they're selling out stadiums."

Fortunately, the admiration between the two of them goes both ways.

"He's always really respectful," Wallen says of Jelly Roll (via Taste of Country). "I see how other people treat other people who may not have as much stature as me or as much success as me, and I see him treat them the same. That's what I look for when it comes to a man."
