George Strait announced earlier this year that he has "maybe five good years to sing" to audiences. But if his latest social media post is any indication, he plans to make the most of them. He's preparing a big announcement about his plans for next year.

George Strait Shared a Blast From the Past
In the post, Strait shared a vintage poster from the 1999 edition of "The George Strait Chevy Trucks Country Music Festival." And if the lineup featuring Tim McGraw, the Dixie Chicks (before their name change), JoDee Messina, Kenny Chesney, and Asleep at the Wheel didn't make you feel old, then the fact that it was presented by cell phone manufacturer Nokia definitely will. Our minds immediately went to the late '90s when we played "Snake" on those tiny screens.
An old article in the fan magazine Strait Talk announcing the show highlighted a new feature called the "StraitCam," which allowed fans to see the crew set up the stage before the show.
"No sound will be available, but fans will be able to see fresh photographs every few minutes," the article says. "Fans will be able to check on and look at photographs of all the activities, including the day of the show." The 1990s were indeed a magical time.
Enough About the Past! What's Happening Next Year?
Unfortunately, the Super Bowl Halftime Show is booked, despite efforts to get Strait on the bill.
It's worth noting that the "Write This Down" singer hasn't done a major tour in over a decade, but fans are speculating about his return. Some believe he may want to surpass the attendance he set on June 15, 2024. He performed for 110,905 people at Texas A&M's Kyle Field, then the largest single-ticketed concert in history.
However, that record was broken earlier this year when Zach Bryan performed for 112,000 fans at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. Going out just to beat a record doesn't seem like Strait's style, though.
Others speculate Strait might be putting together another festival. If it features a great lineup like "The George Strait Chevy Trucks Country Music Festival" did, we're on board.
The prevailing theory is that Strait and Tim McGraw will team up for a tour. Considering McGraw is currently recovering from multiple surgeries this year, it sounds like the perfect time for the duo to make a comeback.
Whatever Strait has planned for 2026, he certainly has everyone's attention.
