It's not George Strait, but let's face it, does anyone have any objections to Sting?

The NFL announced on Tuesday, Oct. 28, that the former frontman for The Police will headline a Super Bowl-branded concert. The show will take place at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco on Feb. 6. That's two days before the big game takes place at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California.
So Sting Isn't Playing Halftime?
The "Fields of Gold" performer is not headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show itself. Instead, the NFL schedules multiple events in the host city before the main event, and Sting's performance is part of those festivities.
Sting will be part of Super Bowl LX Studio 60. It's an event described as "a weekend of unforgettable music entertainment at one of San Francisco's most iconic venues." Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to see performers "up close and personal."
This announcement comes at a time when the Trump Administration has criticized Bad Bunny's booking for the Halftime Show.
What Have People Been Saying About Bad Bunny?
Earlier this month, we reported that Speaker of the House Mike Johnson had thrown Lee Greenwood's name into the ring to replace Bad Bunny. President Donald Trump claimed in an interview that he had never heard of the chart-topping reggaeton star.
Although Puerto Rican Bad Bunny is a United States citizen by birth, the non-profit Turning Point recently announced "The All-American Halftime Show" as an alternative to the official broadcast. Performers will be announced later.
The NFL and Roc Nation, the latter of which has booked the Halftime Show since 2019, both said they are sticking with Bad Bunny.
How Is the Petition to Get George Strait to Replace Bad Bunny Going?
On Change.org, a user proposed replacing Bad Bunny with 2025 Kennedy Center honoree George Strait.
"The Super Bowl halftime show should unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly, not be turned into a political stunt," the petition reads.
"George Strait, known as the 'King of Country,' embodies the heart and soul of American music," it continues. "With over 60 No. 1 hits and more than 40 years in the music industry, George Strait is not only a legend in the country music genre but a staple in American musical history. His ability to transcend generations with his timeless songs resonates with a diverse demographic, welcoming both long-time fans and newcomers.
"The 2026 Super Bowl offers a unique opportunity to pay tribute to American music's rich heritage by featuring George Strait in its halftime show. His performances are known for their authenticity and raw emotion, qualities that are crucial as we aim to unite fans from coast to coast."
The petition has now amassed over 96,000 signatures.
