Nashville’s Favorite Rapper Says This Country Star Is “Definitely One of My Close Friends in the Industry”

Fame and success have their perks and downsides. If you are a country music star, there are the constant demands of fans and the media, recording sessions, concerts and grueling hours of travel. Being far from home and family can be very lonely. Staying on top of the heap is sometimes a tricky balancing act.

For all those reasons, it helps to have people around you who can help you maintain your emotional equilibrium. BigXthaPlug, 27, says that for him, it's his pal Shaboozey, 30, who's always there to keep him steady and grounded. He really appreciates the bond he has with the red-hot young star, both in and beyond the recording studio. They support each other as buddies and as artists.

Per People, BigX said of Shaboozey, "We kind of came up at the same time, and we keep each other leveled out." He continued, "Every time I see him I'll be like, 'Bro, you're one of the biggest artists in the world.' And he'll be like, 'No, bro, you're one of the biggest artists.' He keeps me level-headed. I keep him level-headed."

BigX referred to the "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" artist as "definitely one of my close friends in the industry for sure."

He was honored with the Hip-Hop Disruptor of the Year award this month at a Hitmakers event. BigX spoke at that occasion about what it means to him to be warmly received by leading figures in country music.

The singer said, "And not just regular, these are like top tier artists, the Shaboozeys, the Luke Combs, the Morgan Wallens, the Post Malones, the Ella Langleys... It's just a blessing to be accepted. Then when you do the music with them and it goes as crazy as it went, it's a blessing."
