Thinking about the best comedic actors of all time work best in sections. The 2000s lead you to think about the Seth Rogen style films or Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler hits. Ben Stiller rose quick in prominence and Mike Myers plays some of the most memorable characters in pop culture history. The 80s and 90s are filled with comedy all stars too, Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, the list is endless. Bill Murray was one of the biggest from that era; hits like Caddyshack and Groundhog Day remain staples to this day.

If anyone is capable of rooting out the best of the best comedic actors, it's Bill. In a Reddit thread where he responds to fan questions, he reveals who he thinks are the cream of the crop in comedy acting. The first instinct is to remember his SNL days, prop up his peers. However, Murray keeps to the classics. "I'm a Buster Keaton guy; he's really physical," he says.

"Chaplin is really beautiful and he's really wonderful. But the stuff that Buster did? It's ungodly how dangerous it was. The physical stuff he could do? Charlie could do the romantic, scamp thing. But Buster, his heart just flamed out through his eyes. He was something," Murray adds. "To say that Charlie Chaplin isn't physical is also absurd. That's god. The dinner roll dance? But Buster should get the same attention."

None of this is to say Murray doesn't go up for his peers. Even people he couldn't stand like Chevy Chase ended up being okay in his book after a while. John Belushi remains someone he's especially protective of to this day. When author Bob Woodward wrote his book about him, Bill was quick to slam the results. "If this is what he writes about my friend that I've known, you know, for half of my adult life, which is completely inaccurate, talking to like, the people of the outer, outer circle, getting the story," Murray explains. "What the hell could they have done to Nixon?"
