Carrie Underwood has rewatched her American Idol audition 20 years later and has reacted to it.

I'm sure the singer has revisited the audition sometime in the past two decades, but it's weird to see her watching the audition now that she's a judge on the show.

To promote this year's season, airing on the 9th, American Idol invited the contestant-turned-judge to react to the clip and shared the moment on YouTube. The singer doesn't just react to her audition, however. She also shares life before American Idol, and shares how she got to the audition in the first place.

The video is a nice watch for fans of the show and the artist, especially those who have followed her for the past 20 years. While watching, Carrie Underwood makes some remarks about how she was feeling in the moment.

Apparently, it threw her off when Simon Cowell cut her short. "Why did they cut me off?" she mock-sobbed, recalling her thoughts at the time. She felt immediately comforted by Cowell's compliment, however, especially considering she had been warned about him and his hatred for country music before the audition.

You can watch the video below to revisit Carrie Underwood's humble beginnings with her.

Carrie Underwood Recalls Learning About The Audition

In the video, Underwood goes over how she learned about the audition.

Three seasons of the show had already passed, and Underwood and her parents watched every episode on the TV together.

Underwood was home with her parents on the farm during the summer when the radios started announcing auditions for the singing show. At the time, auditions were in Ohio.

"On the American Idol website, I saw the map, and it was like dotting the outsides of the U.S. and then there was St. Louis," she recalled.

Underwood immediately asked her mom how far that was, and it was roughly a seven-hour drive. Although the singer was dismissive of wanting to audition, her mom firmly said, "if you wanna go, I'll drive."

If her mom hadn't offered to take her all the way down to the auditions, all of this would never have happened.

Well, you know the rest. Her mom took her to the audition, and she aced it. The rest is history.
