Concertgoer Assaults Singer During Live Performance, Fans Air Grievances Over Lack of Security Action

Someone was caught on video putting their hand on the performer's groin, prompting the singer to say it was inappropriate.

This fan was lucky they didn't get kicked out of the show for not keeping their hands to themselves. In a video taken at a Mario concert at the Masonic Jack White Theatre yesterday, Nov. 24, the "Let Me Love You" singer stood within arm's reach of the audience. Then one of those arms reached up and cupped a hand over his crotch.

That was obviously a touch too far, so Mario kneeled down and appeared to tell them to stop.

This Sort of Thing Seems To Be Happening a Lot Lately

People obviously had a lot to say about the Mario video.

"Assault. Period. I'm pressing charges. If it were the other way around, the man would be in jail already," one user wrote.

Another added, "She should of been escorted out IMMEDIATELY."

It goes without saying that fans should never touch or throw things at anyone without their permission. However, these incidents appear to be happening more frequently.

Several weeks ago, during the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good, a fan leaped over a barricade and charged at actress Ariana Grande. He grabbed her shoulder.

Co-star Cynthia Erivo stepped between the two and spoke to the attacker. Security then took him away.

Over the summer, there were several incidents of fans throwing objects on stage, and no, they weren't all at Gavin Adcock concerts.

Braxton Keith mentioned the "Own Worst Enemy" singer before telling a crowd in Texas to stop throwing things.

"I didn't come here to get beer cans thrown at me, alright? This isn't a goddamn Gavin Adcock concert, okay?" Keith said.

At a Morgan Wallen show in Glendale, Arizona, earlier this year, fans reportedly threw objects onto the stage in an attempt to get autographs from the singer.

Then, in July, at a Luke Bryan concert in North Dakota, a can of chew hit the "Drunk On You" artist in the forehead during a performance of "Country Girl."

What Else Happened During the Mario Show?

In another clip from the show, a fan comes on stage and grinds against the singer.

The difference between that situation and the one with the crotch grab: consent. Both Mario and the fan gave it before anything happened.

A concert isn't kindergarten. Please keep your hands and objects to yourself.
