Kasey Tyndall Won A Contest Years Ago For The Opportunity To Sing With Keith Urban

Singing with Keith Urban was a key turning point for Greenville, North Carolina native Tyndall. Per The Tennessean, "Much has occurred since studying to enter Raleigh, North Carolina's burgeoning medical industry as a nurse while winning a 2014 radio contest to sing 'We Were Us' with Keith Urban on August 8, 2014, at Raleigh's Walnut Creek Amphitheater (now Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek)."

Tyndall recalls being urged by her friends to enter the contest - and being skeptical that she had a shadow of a chance to be victorious. But as fate, destiny, serendipity, or good fortune would have it, Tyndall did come out on top. Her ethereal singing voice, plus some plucky determination, clinched first place for her.

Interestingly, Tyndall did not actually meet Urban until she strode on stage to perform with him. She said she did a sound check with someone else from the band who was standing in for him pre-concert. "I actually haven't met him since," Tyndall said. "I can't wait to talk to him again one day and tell him how grateful I am for that opportunity."

She has toured with big-name headliners like Ian Munsick, Ashley McBryde, Hank Williams Jr., Jamey Johnson, Bailey Zimmerman, and others. Also, Tyndall has a songwriting credit on Whirlwind, Wilson's 2024 studio album.

"A lot of people I toured with, I grew up listening to," Tyndall said. "Or when I moved to town (Nashville), they were the people to watch and it shaped me personally and on the business side. It's so fun to watch them rise and learn from them. It makes me happy and excited, and definitely shapes how I look at my own career."

As for the established stars Tyndall admires, she mentioned Alison Krauss, Miranda Lambert, and Brantley Gilbert. "Listening to Miranda and Brantley gave me the green light to throw rock and roll in my country."

Becoming A Wife And A Mom Has Influenced Tyndall Profoundly

Marrying Nate DeOrdio and having an adorable little toddler named Sterling, per People, have both enriched Tyndall's life and positively impacted her career. She said, "It has made me the best version of myself that I have ever been. It just flows out. I feel like I still have to introduce myself to a larger audience. So I told my team the best way I know how to do that is to be exactly who I am right now. All the songs on my record pertain to my life right now. That way, people can see or glimpse into every part of who I am."

While enjoying her thriving personal life, Tyndall also understands and accepts that having such a demanding professional existence entails some sacrifices and hardships. But for her, those realities are more than balanced by the gratification she basks in from performing country music.

"You have a lot of challenges from never really being home and missing birthday parties and funerals and weddings. You're gone a lot, you barely sleep. But it is o worth it when you connect to people and connect to fans and make them happy. Just watch everyone's faces in the crowd. Just offering that unity. The love of music makes it all worth it."

What Is Kasey Tyndall's Goal?

Tyndall's response to this question revealed a lot about who this young woman is. It shows her humility and her humanity. "My biggest goal that I try to remind myself of is that when I was a kid sitting in my room listening to my boom box, listening to songs touch me and reach me and how it's shaped my life and changed my life, whatever goal I need to reach to get to some other kid's stereo system in their room and to be able to reach them in their life, that's my goal."

She added, "I just want to touch people with my music and share my life with others. That's all I can really ask for."
