Morgan Wallen Proves CMA Awards Shade Was Intentional By Immediately Thanking Billboard For Awards Win

Morgan Wallen has been in the news a lot lately for good and not-so-good reasons. He won Entertainer of the Year at the CMA Awards in November but was a mysterious no-show for the ceremony. Then, Wallen was recently in court pleading guilty to a couple of misdemeanors because he allegedly flung a chair off the building housing Eric Church's bar several months ago in Nashville. Also in the headlines, per foxnews.com, he picked up four honors at this year's Billboard Music Awards and hastened to express his gratitude for the recognition. That makes Wallen's cold shoulder of the CMAs even more puzzling.

Morgan Wallen Received A Quartet Of Awards From Billboard

Among Them Was Top Country Artist

Wallen hauled off lots of impressive hardware from Billboard the other day per the outlet, "including top country artist, top male artist, top country male artist and top collaboration, for his song 'I Had Some Help,' with Post Malone."

In his apparently recorded acceptance remarks, Wallen graciously and humbly said, "I just wanted to say thank you guys for everyone who's supported me along my journey and, as always, most importantly, thank you to my fans. You guys have just given me so much freedom to make music that I want to make."

Wallen Appreciates His Fans' Steadfast Loyalty

He added, "Whether it's a song that sounds similar to something I've put out in the past or whether it's something that is completely different, you guys have always just given, at least given it a chance, and that's all I can ask for, and I just want to say thank you guys for being that way with my music. I hope I can come back next year and accept some more, but for now, I really appreciate it. God bless you."

His Lawyer Released A Statement About The Sentence Wallen Got For The Chair Incident

He Received Two Years' Probation

According to a statement from his lawyer, "The plea agreement with the Office of the District Attorney requires Mr. Wallen to spend 7 days at a DUI Education Center, be on probation for 2 years - one year for each of the misdemeanor charges for reckless endangerment - pay a $350 fine and court fees. Upon the successful completion of his probation, the charges will be eligible for dismissal and expungement."
