‘The Voice’ Winner Sofronio Vasquez Reveals He’s Having A 'Date' With Runner-up Shye

The Voice just finished season 26. Winner Sofronio Vasquez, who is the first Filipino to ace the U.S. edition of the famed TV singing competition and be the victor, looked like he was primed to enjoy the win with runner-up Shye. Both were coached by popular crooner Michael Buble in his freshman season on the show.

Sofronio Vasquez Shared His Feelings On His Exciting High-Profile Win

He Spoke With 'American Songwriter' The Following Day

Per American Songwriter, "The 32-year-old former dental student plans to bring the trophy both to his birthplace in the Philippines and his adopted hometown of Utica, New York. But first, he had some business to take care of in Los Angeles."

"I told [Shye,] 'OK, please make sure we have a date tonight. I have a whole lot of ideas.'"

He posted on Instagram, "Dreams really do come true." Fans were ecstatic for him. One posted, "Congratulations!! You made us all proud." Another noted, "Big singing improvement."

Shye Accepted Her Runner-Up Status With Grace And Gratitude

She Issued A Warm Thank You On Social Media

For her part, Shye seemed very at ease and totally gracious with coming in second. She posted on Instagram, "Thank you so much for the love!!! 2nd is my favorite place to be and i am so hype for what's next and it's all thanks to you guys. I'm going to miss this experience and the wonderful people who make it work."

The poised 18-year-old embraced Vasquez when the announcement of his win was made by host Carson Daly. She was supportive of Vasquez every step of the way.

Michael Buble Is Behind Sofronio Vasquez As Well

He Reportedly Promised To Be There For The Winner And Runner-Up

Per the outlet, Vasquez shared, "He [Buble] told me... 'You're going to be working your ass off, and I'm going to be with you. That's an assurance.'"

Vasquez got $100,000 plus a recording contract to boot. He also got to duet on stage with Michael Buble on "Who's Lovin' You?'

The thrills just kept on coming for this talented young man. We will be hearing lots from him in the coming months and years, for sure.
