This Country Superstar Is Practically Unidentifiable in His 2011 Mug Shot

While his weight loss journey is getting all sorts of attention, we can barely recognize the star in his 2011 mugshot for different reasons.

You can't talk about Jelly Roll nowadays without mentioning his dramatic 200-lb weight loss.

Not only does his new look have fans wondering whether the "Save Me" singer should change his name, but he's also considering plastic surgery to address the 35 pounds of extra skin he now has after his transformation.

He shared, "Somebody said, 'Doesn't that hurt?' I said, 'Not as bad as the 500 that was hanging. I'll take these 35 over that, all day, dude, way fair change.'"

The 41-year-old also shaved off his facial hair, which he said he had grown to cover his double chin. His 17-year-old daughter Bailee was shocked, saying her dad looked "like a turtle."

Though Jelly Roll has undergone tremendous personal and professional changes over the last few years, his current appearance is a far cry from his 2011 mugshot. Check out the look below.

Jelly Roll Has Served Jail Time

Before he became a singer, Jelly Roll had been in and out of jail.

"I was the worst criminal ever. My successfulness of running from the police is 0 and 20," he joked last year

However, Jelly Roll admits that what he did was wrong. "I never want to overlook the fact that it was a heinous crime," he said. "This is a grown man looking back at a 16-year-old kid that made the worst decision that he could have made in life, and people could have got hurt and, by the grace of God, thankfully, nobody did."

He was eventually charged as an adult for his crimes. While he says he disagrees with the punishment, he also acknowledges that it set him on the path to success that he is on today.

The Singer Once Rocked a Shaved Head

Recently, a pre-stardom mugshot taken during Jelly Roll's 2011 arrest began making the rounds on social media. The photo highlights how far the singer-songwriter has come since then. It's hard to recognize him as he was in 2011, or even just a few years ago.

The first thing we noticed was his shaved head. Given that Jelly Roll often wears a backwards cap, seeing him without one is unexpected. There's also a tiny goatee on Jelly Roll's chin.

But most apparent is the lack of tattoos on his face, giving the singer a radically different look.

When we compare the pictures of who Jelly Roll was to who he is now, we see a man who has lived two or three lives in his 41 years. It's also a powerful reminder that no matter what, we all have the power to change ourselves for the better.
